Twelve participants. Drawing was won by Clem McLay ($25.00)

1. Dennis Minikel – Ironwood weed pot, bowl, and mesquite chalice, with cedar arrow.

2. Ken Tower – Spalted maple clock with ebony buttons & leaded glass face.

3. Rick Grau – Pictures of Alder wood rocker. Upholstered seat with micro suede. Used Miller dowels. Made a bender for the rockers.

4. Stan Ries – Three stacking Pen trays. (Hold 38 pens each)Used router

5. Clem McLay – Showed a book with chess set patterns. Workman's chess set that he started to make out of very hard cherry wood. He stopped because the wood is too hard to work with.

6. Frank Pickett – Segmented clock (time ring) with intarsia teddy bear. (Cut, grooved, sanded & routed – no lathe work) Five ballpoint pens using various woods. Uses very cheap plastic pens, splits the wooden blank and routs grooves on one side, glues together & then turns.

7. Alan Crosby – Ironwood key rings. Pens: maple with black walnut trim and mesquite salvaged from the centers of napkin rings.

8. Merle Watts –Photos of cup & saucer shelves (Used old spindles from previous project) Weed pot and wooden roses. (Used very hard wood – thinks it's elm)

9. Dan Williams – Carved matador (with cape) and charging bull. (Tail broke off, so he fastened it to the base and dabbed a little red paint on the end.) Used basswood and painted with acrylic.

10. George Sample – Two sets of coasters and boxes made from bits & pieces of various woods. Used patterns for coasters, but designed boxes himself. *When you cut center of coaster plate, tilt scroll saw table about 4 or 5 degrees to give indentation for the coaster. Finished with natural color and Watco oil.

11. Stephen Pustelnik – Carved dolphin. Started the project many years ago using 1” scrap which was too thin. Had to add pieces as he went.

12. Denise Omdah l – Rather old hand carved figurine purchased at a garage sale for very little money. Uncertain what the wood is, but liked it because of the work that someone put into it.

WOODWORKING CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS:
