6, 2009 Meeting Minutes – Desert

Financial report read by Denise Omdahl :Ending Balance : $1,397.55 available.
Alan Crosby, called the meeting to
order at 9:30 a.m. at the Raytheon Woodchippers Clubhouse.
17 members and 1 guest were present. (Guests Ted Muckermann)
Minutes
for May meeting were approved as published:
The
50/50 ($30.00) was won by Stephen Pustetnik
The
Bring Back: was won by visitor June meeting and not present therefore, Frank
Pickett volunteered to make something for the July meeting bring back.
OLD
BUSINESS:
The
US Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act
Frank Pickett reported that nothing has changed and that to
date is not purchasing any materials to make items for the kids, until the
issue is resolved. Ken Tower encouraged members to use caution when responding
to the on line petition, it may release many unwanted spam to their email.
NEW
BUSINESS:
Alan Crosby made motion that the current roster and web site
be updated. Motion seconded by Denise
Omdahl
SHOW
AND TELL:
8 members participated. Drawing
was won by Ken Tower $25.00.
1. Ken Tower – Sailboat –sails made from old birch screens
from cooler.
2. Alan Crosby – Two pens made of Hickory
3.Ted
Muckermann-Spoons recycled from 15 year old wood. For finish used beeswax.
4. Ivan-Pens made from burl, Purchased pen kit used was a
replica of 50 caliber casing.
5. Stan Ries – Star-shaped bottle stopper made of chino red,
turned on Rose engine
lathe.
Cherry bowl burnt inside for color.
6. Goerge Sample-Eco Art Box made of walnut poplar, with
magnets to hold in place.
7. Frank Pickett – Segmented bowl.

DEMONSTRATION
BY Ken Tower -
Ken brought in several types of nail
guns and gave demo on proper use of each one.
