Meeting Minutes – Desert Woodcrafters Association – July 12, 2008

Alan Crosby, President, called the meeting to order at 9:10 a.m. at the Raytheon Woodchippers clubhouse. Two guests – Joe Deraad and Jean Erickson - were in attendance.

Minutes for June 7, 2008 were approved as published. Motion made by Sam Scalzo, seconded by George Lewis.

$100.00 to go to the other group.

The 50/50 ($36.00) was won by Jim Keown.

The Bring Back, Bob Willman won the bring-back, made by Stan Ries.

Nine $10.00 Gift certificates from Craft Supplies, USA were given out.

Show & Tell - 13 members participated.

· Ken Tower – Ark animals. He talked about different oils for boards.

· Stan Ries – Inlaid bowl.

· Herb Winkler – Large wood box with lid.

· Bob Erickson – Palatalino bowls.

· Merle Watts – Boxos – round one – shallow bowls.

· Dennis Miniker – Wine stem and bowl.

· George Lewis – Wind bottle holder.

· Frank Pickett – Keepsake boxes, Mustang car plans.

· Clem McLay – Dog, puzzles, car, mystery wood.

· George Lewis – Flat-bottomed bowl.

· Sam Scalzo – Small wooden bowls.

· Alan Crosby – Scrap wood trivets and turned pens.

· Paul Swane – Square bowl, a knuckle whacker made in a three day class.

Demo – Ken Tower did a demo on assembling a breadbox using various jointing techniques and the Tambour top he constructed in a previous demo.
